Volunteer

Our success relies on the time and support of dedicated volunteers. Here is an overview of opportunities to volunteer with Baskets of Care.

baskets of care support bag for breast cancer

Knitters

Each Baskets of Care comfort care bag includes a Healing Shawl and is gifted to a newly diagnosed breast cancer patient.  The shawls are either knitted or crocheted, all by our volunteers. The healing shawl is one of the "signature pieces" of this comfort care bag and is very well received. Volunteers may create them at their own pace, so no minimum number is required per volunteer in order to participate.

Sewers

Another comfort care item is a Heart Shaped Padded Pillow which is included in the Basket of Care gift bag. It has been designed and developed to be worn in the car to protect the breast.  It is attached with a Velcro Strap that fastens around the seat belt. Instructions and pattern will be provided to sewers. Designer fabric, flannel, batting, Velcro, and Baskets of Care strap, are the materials needed to complete the project. All materials to sew the pillows will be provided. If you like to sew and are looking for a wonderful volunteer project, this could be for you.

If you believe in our cause and would like to get involved, please complete the following form and someone will contact you.
